Manja Barthel

Manja Barthel develops her compositions of color and texture entirely without the use of a brush. She has chosen a modern medium as her specialty; she creates images using layered strips of translucent colored film which partly escape the edges of the picture as if they wanted to move out into the room. The free abstractions are vaguely suggestive of real places, objects or situations. In her work we find chaos, near symmetry, geometric forms and delicate nuances in color - parameters for tension and balance.

Already during her studies and increasingly in the following years, Manja Barthel showed her collages at numerous exhibitions in various German cities as well as in Vienna, Wrozlav, St. Petersburg and Milan.
