Matthias Bausch

The work of Matthias Bausch consists of paintings, drawings and objects. He often uses the subject of playgrounds as the origin of his art. Those are seen as artificially created places, fake idylls with unfathomable potential. It is about the contradiction between the desire to play and the rules one has to follow, that is to be understood as an external force. The picture turns into a projection surface depicting the mismatch between inner perception and external reality.
